"In the course of renovation works in April 2002, this nail was taken from the house where the
author Herman Hesse was born. These nails, of hand-wrought iron, estimated 1780 were found in the
beams of the half-timbering in the eastern wall of this house. The nails were used to fix straw
mats on the half-timbering to put on whitewash"
